Project52 • Read

Teaching children to be passionate about reading gives them the gifts of a key to a world of imagination, and the ability to answer questions they are otherwise unable to answer. It is the gift of opportunity. Reading to them as much as possible, helping them to see that the stories can teach them about life, helping them to relax at the end of a long day with a good book, instilling the simple value of a passion for reading, should be one of the many goals of all parents.

I love to read. I read for pleasure (mysteries have always been my favorite). I read for knowledge about things I do not understand. I read to keep in contact with friends through the internet. I read all day long. Hubs reads constantly too. He reads different things than I do, but just as fervently. We will do all that I can to ensure that my kids will have a passion for the written word the way that Hubs and I do, because we believe that reading is a simple value that has given us opportunities and happiness in life that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

    Totally agree!! I am so thankful that my little loves to read and will sit by herself and “read” through her books.. hoping that continues for the rest of her life! Happy Friday!

    I totally agree! We read throughout the day and always before nap time and bed time. It’s just part of the routine and I think one of my son’s favorite parts of the day. Since having children I haven’t put reading for ME anywhere near the top of my list and I really miss it. Like you made me realize, it’s probably just as important for my children to see me read as it is for me to read to them.

    I agree too! Reading is so important for the whole family; mom, dad and kids. We try to read at least one book a day to our 9-month old. Thanks for linking up this week!

    Yup, reading is a favorite here too! Kiddo loves it and she loves going to the library (which is conveniently next door to the gym). I love that I know the kiddo is going to love our venture into town tomorrow too, which is simply going to the bookstore to pick out a book or two.

    P.S. Not sure what happened to the comment you posted last week. I received the e-mail confirmation…but it never appeared on the blog. Kinda weird.
