Do you watch Glee? I do. I love the show. Maybe its because in high school I was a band geek, and like the kids on the show my friends and I banded together against the “cool kids”. In hindsight, who cares? At the time? Me. When I turned 30, in February of this year, I took another major step toward self acceptance. Someone close to me asked me, “why don’t you think you have value? You keep saying that your friends are so great. You’re great too? Don’t you realize that? They value you. Value yourself!” Wow. Powerful stuff. Since then, I’ve been taking way better care of myself in lots of ways. I have been empowering myself to explore my creativity, which I haven’t REALLY done in YEARS.

Anyhow, welcome back from Tangentville. I’m bad like that. Sorry. The point is this: the show rocks. It sends a message that regardless of what you are, who you are is up to you. You can be any color, gender, ethnicity, social class, social standing, intelligence, abled, disabled, gay, straight, or any other variety of life. As long as you accept others for their own different personal attributes, accept yourself, and hang by your friends, you’ll be ok. Throw in a few fantasmic covers of popular music in dance numbers performed throughout the show, and you’ve got Glee! One of my total faves. Two songs are my anthem right now, and I actually like that Glee versions better than their original versions. Hit play on the videos below, turn up your speakers, and rock out! I know I’m going to with my kids.

There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are. He made you perfect babe. Hold your head up, babe and you’ll go far. I’m beautiful in my way ’cause God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track, baby, cause I was born this way! Don’t hide yourself in regret, just love yourself and you’re set! I’m on the right track, baby. I was born this way! {Lady Gaga}

If you’re too school for cool, and you’re treated like a fool? You could choose to let it go. We can always party on our own. So raise your glass if you are wrong in all the right ways. All my underdogs, we will never be anything but loud and nitty gritty, dirty little freaks! {Pink!}

The second one is my favorite song right now. Definitely this summer’s jam! Raise your glass fellow Gleeks! We were born this way, and now I’m proud to be!! 😀 Who’s with me?
