I have discovered a product that I cannot travel without (assuming that I am bringing along my 2 year old). I always get her her own seat, and in the past I have had to lug a stroller, her car seat, our carry ons, and a ton of equipment from plane to plane. I live across the country from family, and travel several times a year to see them. ENTER THE TRAVELMATE. It’s a little bit pricey, but if you still need the car seat, this is the product for you! It straps on to the back of the car seat that you already own, and turns it into a dolly/stroller! AMAZING. Now I don’t have to gate check a stroller and pray that it doesn’t get CREAMED on the flight! (Many flights have resulted in zero damage, others have made a mess of my stroller – and waiting for it to come up has made it an interesting run to a connecting flight…) I would certainly get this if you are a frequent traveler. Mine has flown on several flights already, and shows no wear. In fact, I let a friend borrow it for HER trip with her son, and it made another Mama smile by performing without incident.
Later, when your child is larger and no longer requires a car seat, I have heard that the C.A.R.E.S system is awesome. I will be purchasing them for my kids when they get older for sure!
