Go, go go. Do, do, do.
Your to-do list is endless, and your life is demanding.
In all the hustle that live throws your way,
please take the time to relax. It really is easy.
Just slow down and rest your mind and body.
You deserve it.

relax

Relaxing doesn’t come naturally to everyone. It took me 30 years to figure it out, and admittedly, I am terrible at it. Whenever my time isn’t full of obligations with/for others, I generally can be found working intensely on some project or another: designing a site, creating a graphic, organizing my home, volunteering, and recently starting my business. Oh yeah, and then there’s the whole “raising kids thing”… Yeah.

In a recent conversation with a wise friend, I had an epiphanie. I was venting about frustration related to being so close to feeling like I was “done”, but being unable to realize my goal. My friend looked at me and simply asked, “What does that mean? Done what? What would that look like?”. She stopped me dead in my tracks. I did not know what to say. She was right. I am never going to be “done” because I will always start something else. That’s what I do. Epiphany: If you are never going to be finished, you need to take a break and reset. So tonight, this is me. A bowl of chocolates, my iPad2, a steaming cup of cocoa, some great shows lined up on the TiVo, my feet up on the coffee table, and Hubs beside me to share in all of it. Life. Is. Good. I know because I’m learning how to relax and recognize that while I am not “done”, I’m doing my best, and sometimes that is enough. I could get used to this. Care to join me?
