Visit the Motherhood
The motherhood is the toughest ‘hood. We push out the babies. We bring them through infancy, toddlerhood, childhood, adolescence, and then through life the best we can. This ‘hood is not the place for sissies. It’s not an easy road to go, but for me its been one full of victories, defeats, a TON of laughter, and a bucket full of tears. Let’s keep it real. Mamas aren’t super heroes, but we are pretty darned close.
Suggestions for Baby Registries
When my sister was preparing to have her first child, she asked me for a list of suggested items to include on her registry. I sat down and made my list. This is what I sent: Before you even look at the suggestions, know that every single child and [...]
And Now It’s Time for a Breakdown
Remember that song from EnVogue?! I do. It had that part in the middle where the deep guy's voice says "And Now It's Time for a Breakdown" (at 3:05 if you're looking for it in the video). I heard it in the car this week and started to laugh. [...]
Perspective Shift from MOPS Friends
A couple of months ago during a MOPS meeting, they passed out discussion questions. One of them was "What is the Hardest Part of Being a Mom"? I was only a handful of days postpartum (Yes I was at a meeting the week after I had Boy.) and my [...]
A Parental Drinking Game
So I was thinking about that old drinking game, Never Have I Ever. If you've never played, it goes something like this: Someone starts by making a Never Have I Ever statement (ie: Never Have I Ever Cheated on a Test.) (That's tame- generally this game can run into [...]

My friend Mickayla posted this one tonight on her Facebook profile and it made me laugh out loud. Thinking of Having Kids? Do this 11 step program first! by Brenna Gray Foster on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 8:14am Lesson 1 1. Go to the grocery store. 2. Arrange to [...]
A Mommy Kind of Monday
Today was a Mommy kind of Monday. I asked Girl a million times if she was still "dry" and whether or not she needed to use the potty. I reaffirmed that she would tell me if she DID have to go. I also forgave the one accident that she [...]
Keeping It Real
I am not perfect. Wow. I am glad I got that one out there. I do not have all of my loads of laundry washed. My house isn't perfectly clean, decorated, and tidy. My language can be bad, my hair is often a mess, and most of the time [...]
Put a Sock In It
In our house, one of our new traditions is to put a sock in it. By "it" I mean Christmas, and by "sock" I mean stocking! This year, my in laws came to town for the holiday. My mother-in-law knew that we didn't have stockings for everyone, and decided [...]

Stealing a Tradition: Gingerbread House Contest
Part of our Ginger Neighborhood As discussed in our last Stealing a Tradition post, this year we are beginning to establish the traditions of OUR household. We are blending those of my family of origin and Hubby's family of origin, and stealing a few goodies from others, [...]
Stealing a Tradition: 25 Books for Advent
I am part of the local MOPS group. At the last meeting, we discussed our family traditions. This is my first year in establishing my family's traditions. My family of origin has many, many, many traditions. I treasure them with all of my heart. My husband's family has their [...]
I Knew That Christmas Was Coming
I LOVE Christmas. I love just about everything about it. I get stressed, don't get me wrong. But in the end, I love Christmas. Here are 10 ways that, while I was growing up, I knew that Christmas was on its way: 1. One can only state the obvious: [...]
Failing to Try out of Fear to Fail inspired by leia
My friend recently wrote in her blog about how the fear of failure had effected her life. Her words were very well chosen and made me think. Lots of times in my life, I chose to not participate or fully participate in activities due to my fear of failure. Arguably, [...]
Time Out! Consistent or Control Freak?
We are up to our eyeballs in terrible twoness. Girl is as smart as a whip, and pushing every limit she can find. She loves to see how Mama will react if she does things, or doesn't do them. What if I don't listen? What if I punch my [...]
Jesus is in the Toilet
Today I opened the Little Tikes nativity set and gave it to Girl to play with. She loved it, but she got confused on some of the details. Here were our "issues". She thought the camels were dogs. She refused to believe the three wise individuals were men instead [...]
Perfect Blog Lady
I received this link from a friend. It connects to a woman's blog that talks about how she compares herself to other bloggers and becomes overwhelmed. Amen sister! I couldn't have said it better than she did!!! It looks longer than it reads. Take the time to read to [...]
Grocery Delivery Lifesaving Genius
When we traveled back to WA, I knew I was coming home to a seriously empty fridge. There would be no milk or other staples that I would need. I knew because I had been in on the consumption of these goods prior to our departure. I also knew [...]
The Girl is Type A
I was watching television while my daughter played on the floor with her Little People toys. When I turned around, she had them all sorted by which animal they were, lined up in a long row, and was proudly yelling "I did it!". Yep. You proved you were Type [...]
I’m Not Sorry Anymore
I’m sorry. I’m SO sorry… Does anyone else find themselves apologizing all the time? I find myself expressing myself only to recant with a big ‘ol “I’m sorry” for having an opinion. I also find myself often saying “I’m sorry” for the behavior of my children when people seem [...]
Say My Name!
While we found out we were pregnant and began picking names, our parents began the debate about what they wanted to be called. Mom thought Nana would be good. Dad was going for Jiddo. Then it changed to Grampie. He wasn't thrilled about it, but since we are not [...]
Lessons I Recently Learned From My 2 Year Old
1. If you want to take a swim in the pool, but can't get to the Y, it is entirely possible to do a cannonball in the bathtub. It is also possible to spread a splash of water across the entire bathroom. 2. Using the potty is vastly more [...]
Something to shop for… the 3/50 project
My mother-in-law pointed me to this site. She found it while searching for a business local to my area (across the country from her own). What a powerful message! Check it out!! I definitely will be shopping locally for more of my Christmas giving this year. I know many small [...]
